5 Reasons Dentist Recommend Invisalign

Dentist Blog

Misaligned teeth can affect your oral health in many ways. Crooked teeth are difficult to clean and contribute to periodontal disease. This damages both the gum and the bone and could also result in tooth loss. One effective solution that dentists recommend is Invisalign. While this procedure benefits your overall general health, not many people are sure this is the right choice. If you are faced with many options, here are five reasons Invisalign stands out.

1. Want Invisible Aligners; You Got It!

Misaligned teeth affect your social smile. You probably have not enjoyed that smile in a long time. Having metal braces may not make this any better. If you are looking for something that is not noticeable, Invisalign offers you all the benefits, but they are clear and don't detract from your smile.

2. Enjoy a Custom Fit

Most people are worried about the comfort of Invisalign. Well, Invisalign trays are made from smooth plastic, so you don't need to worry about anything cutting into your lips or cheeks. They are custom made to fit your teeth, which also gives precise control in straightening your teeth. You will also enjoy the fact that most aligners are removable.

3. No Worry About Avoiding Your Favourite Meal

There are no food restrictions with Invisalign. Most orthodontic options don't give you the freedom to enjoy certain foodstuffs. For example, teeth braces may limit you from enjoying any sticky or hard food. For aligners, you only need to remove your trays and enjoy your meal—no need to worry that aligners will ruin your special celebration.

4. Invisalign Take a Short Time

Worried about how long it takes? Worry no more. Invisalign often takes approximately a year to align your teeth. During this period, the set of aligners adjusts your teeth vertically and horizontally until the teeth are in their desired position. The dentist often monitors these movements and makes any necessary changes along the way.

5. No More Frequent Visits to Your Dentist

Once fixed, you may not have to make frequent visits to your dentist. Since the aligners are custom made, you don't necessarily need to see your dentist regularly, except for every six months for a cleaning, as usual. Besides, no extra work is required to correct your teeth once you have the right aligners.

If you have been struggling with crooked teeth, Invisalign offers you a great option. Having your teeth fixed gives you total control over your dental health. With these benefits, you only need a qualified dentist to start with the procedure. You can be sure that the procedure will help restore your smile.

Teeth And Tears: Dental Dramas Of A School Nurse

I have worked as a school nurse for decades. Children come to me with all sorts of scrapes and bumps and bruises. Black eyes from playing football, sprained wrists from falling off the monkey bars and stomachaches from too many sweets are common complaints. However, the issue that seems to cause the greatest angst is tooth problems. Sometimes a child will have a second tooth knocked out when playing sport and parents arrive in tears. At other times, children come to my office crying because their friends are teasing them about teeth that are discoloured or stick out. I take an active interest in the latest dental news so that I can give parents and children comfort and advice. I have included some of my collected wisdom on these pages. Perhaps this information can help you understand some options when faced with a dental problem. Thank you for reading.
