Regain Your Life: How Dental Implants Will Benefit Your Life

Dentist Blog

If you're dealing with significant dental problems, now's the time to talk to your dentist about dental implants. If you're like most people, you know that these implants help to prevent bone deterioration after tooth loss, and can also prevent the shifting of surrounding teeth after loss. However, there are other benefits of getting dental implants. Here are just a few of those benefits for you to consider.

Restore Emotional Well-Being

If you've lost any of your permanent teeth, you may have also lost some of your emotional well-being. This is especially true if you have ill-fitting dentures, or you haven't been able to replace your missing teeth at all. Ill-fitting teeth can slip out of place when you try to speak or chew. Lost teeth leave you with a gap that's obvious when you smile or speak. Unfortunately, those issues can interfere with your emotional well-being and can undermine your self-confidence. If tooth loss is affecting your emotional well-being, it's time to talk to a dentist about the benefits of dental implants.

Enhance Your Quality of Life

If you've stopped going out and socializing because you're self-conscious about your premature tooth loss, dental implants can help. It's not uncommon for your quality of life to be affected following premature tooth loss, especially where the front teeth are concerned. Not only that, if you have dentures, there are some activities that you might not be able to participate in, especially those that might be considered extreme activities, such as sky-diving. After all, the air pressure may cause your dentures to come loose. To make sure you're able to enjoy life, arrange for the dental implant procedure.

Alleviate Speech Problems

If you've developed speech problems as a result of premature tooth loss, it's time to discuss dental implants with your dentist. Tooth loss can cause you to develop speech problems, especially lisps. The speech problems can occur when missing teeth aren't replaced, or when missing teeth are replaced with ill-fitting dentures. Luckily, you won't need to deal with speech problems once you undergo the dental implant procedure since they fit just like your natural teeth.

Eliminate Chewing Pain

If you're wearing dentures to replace your missing teeth, you may notice some gum pain when you chew. That pain occurs when your dentures rub sore spots on your gums. However, loose teeth can also cause you to experience pain when you chew your food. To alleviate the pain, you must transition to dental implants. Dental implants will eliminate the pain caused by denture sores, and by loose teeth.

Teeth And Tears: Dental Dramas Of A School Nurse

I have worked as a school nurse for decades. Children come to me with all sorts of scrapes and bumps and bruises. Black eyes from playing football, sprained wrists from falling off the monkey bars and stomachaches from too many sweets are common complaints. However, the issue that seems to cause the greatest angst is tooth problems. Sometimes a child will have a second tooth knocked out when playing sport and parents arrive in tears. At other times, children come to my office crying because their friends are teasing them about teeth that are discoloured or stick out. I take an active interest in the latest dental news so that I can give parents and children comfort and advice. I have included some of my collected wisdom on these pages. Perhaps this information can help you understand some options when faced with a dental problem. Thank you for reading.
